McKenzie residence
McKenzie residence
The McKenzie residence involved the opening up of the rear of an existing 4 storey house in London and the insertion of a new steel and glass structure. Following discussions with the client, the main driver of the project was to maximise natural light and views to the rear garden and to link the internal and external spaces. To achieve this a concrete surface runs along the kitchen area and outside to pick up a new steel and glass external staircase and balcony. In addition a concrete and timber window seat runs from the interior dining space to the exterior to form a terraced seating and entertaining space the same width as the new glazed openings. Internally a new timber and glass internal staircase links the old and new spaces and also provides new storage areas.
